Sixteen new Web performance indices will monitor the leading UK Web sites in the following categories and vertical industries: News & media, Events & Entertainment, Travel, Gaming, Social networking and Telecoms.
A brand new section of the Keynote Web site, dedicated to UK and Ireland will provide market insight which will allow Web operations teams, application developers and online business managers to measure and compare the performance of their Web sites against that of their competitors in a number of important categories. The indices will be updated on a weekly basis. As we can see, leading the packs in the week commencing 08/07/07 were BBC, O2, Friends Reunited, Facebook, Ticketmaster, First Choice and Expedia. Although the differences in performance may appear relatively small, in the age of the Internet savvy consumer, these differences cost customers. Reuters, The Guardian, The Link, See Tickets, Travel Bag and Ebookers are going to need to do more in the way of improving their Web site performance if they are going to compete with other companies in their tables. All the Web pages monitored for the new Keynote indices are measured 24/7 from six different ISPs in locations around the UK and Ireland, using Keynote’s commercially available Application Perspective® service.
