Keynote announces beta programme for MITE 2.0 (Mobile Interactive Testing Environment)

MITE 2.0 introduces powerful new capabilities for testing and verifying Web Content  on all Smartphone operating systems

Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in on-demand mobile and Internet test & measurement solutions for continuously improving the online experience, today announced the beta release of MITE 2.0 (Mobile Interactive Testing Environment), the most powerful tool to automate testing and verification of mobile content across thousands of mobile device profiles.  Keynote is making available the beta to qualified mobile developers, QA and Web operations professionals.

Due to the increased popularity and the improved functionality of smartphones, mobile web traffic continues to rise.  In order to stay ahead of the competition, businesses must ensure that they have a successful, bespoke mobile strategy as poor mobile performance can lead to dissatisfied potential customers who will quickly browse to a competitor’s site. Once downloaded, MITE 2.0 beta participants can instantly begin to interact with Web content across more than 1,600 mobile devices profiles already built into MITE’s customisable device library, including the latest smartphones, such as the Apple iPhone, Palm Pre, Motorola Droid, BlackBerry Storm and more.  This will allow businesses to ensure a positive end-user experience for their mobile customers, regardless of their handset or service provider.

Additional features of MITE 2.0 include:

  • Ability to test and verify mobile Web site compliance against W3C mobile best practices
  • Built-in performance analysis, content warnings and source code for each page
  • Ability to write scripts and provision measurements for 24x7 monitoring to measure the availability of Web sites around the world
  • Automate the testing of mobile Web sites concurrently across any number of mobile device profiles

With the continued proliferation of smartphones, developers and QA testers are increasingly challenged to create and test Web content while Web operations teams face the challenge of ensuring the continuous availability of that same content on devices with varying capabilities, form factors and screen sizes.  Before MITE, developers and testers were limited to using repurposed browser plug-ins, expensive rental options or maintaining their own mobile device libraries.  As well as providing a comprehensive library of device profiles, MITE offers businesses detailed diagnostics that give them a deeper understanding of what is happening behind the scenes.  For each page tested, MITE provides download times, redirects, over-sized objects, broken links, supported MIME types, syntax errors, compliance with W3C mobile best practices and much more.  With MITE, users can navigate their Web site and check links and content from the convenience of a single desktop application.    By having this easy-to-manage set-up, businesses can rigorously test and monitor their mobile offering on an ongoing basis to fully understand what their mobile customers are experiencing.

“Keynote is excited to deliver the next-generation mobile content testing and verification tool that will help mobile developers, QA and Web operations teams do their jobs better, faster and cheaper.  Our business is enabling online enterprises to deliver a better end user experience. With the MITE 2.0 beta we are offering potential users the opportunity to try it out, provide us with valuable feedback and help us to deliver a better product.” said Nisheeth Mohan, mobile product manager at Keynote.  “I’m confident that MITE 2.0 beta users will truly appreciate how easy it is to quickly test and verify Web content across mobile devices to ensure the highest levels of content quality and service delivery are being met.”
