SAN MATEO, California — March 19, 2002 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN), the Internet Performance Authority®, is for the first time making Web applications testing an easy and integral function for operations, as well as quality assurance and development teams, to continually validate Web site functionality, availability and page level performance with the announcement today of Test Perspective™ 4.0.

Keynote Test Perspective 4.0 provides a cost-effective, self-service load testing and diagnostic testing service, and is available in two editions: Snapshots Edition™, for continual, high repetition diagnostic testing of individual transactions; and Load Test Edition™, for multiple users and combined scripts. Both provide on-demand or scheduled self-service testing, with real-time results, from multiple geographic locations through Keynote's easy to use portal interface.

Keynote Test Perspective 4.0 users easily download a recorder from Keynote's Web site and use it to record the transactions they wish to test. Snapshots focuses on single user, single script tests of short duration for individual multi-step transactions. Additionally, customers can script as many transactions as frequently as they'd like from up to 10 geographic locations in the U.S. and five in Europe. The two Test Perspective editions can be purchased individually or together. To qualify for a free load test, visit Keynote's Web site or click http://www.keynote.com/load-test-trial.html.

With Test Perspective 4.0, Snapshots Edition, operations, quality assurance and development teams can test live Web pages as well as production servers to easily and quickly pinpoint specific causes of Web site performance problems in real-time; test performance when modifications are made to the site; test and verify new code against performance goals and ensure performance objectives are met; and analyze short-term performance trends – all from multiple locations and backbones around the U.S. Snapshots' Script Library lists all objects on each page of the transaction and reports page element details, object performance and errors in real-time that pinpoint the source of problems, by geography or whether on the server or in page content. Page element details include (but are not limited to) DNS, connection time, redirects, and content time for all objects that could include gifs, ads, logos, banners, fields, forms, links, etc.

With Test Perspective's Load Test Edition, Web site operators can ensure the ability of their sites to handle traffic storms, can continually check the health of their site and test as frequently as desired, minimize unexpected performance and availability issues, validate the site's ability to handle expected loads, identify breaking points and prepare for traffic storms.

"Test Perspective 4.0 has already diagnosed some transaction improvements," said Kevin Johnson, NOC Supervisor, Homestore. "Our customers come to our site looking for a home, a loan, a realtor or a lender, and for us, good Web site performance equals repeat business. We've been testing several transactions from multiple cities, giving us insight into the experience of our users around the country. By using Test Perspective's object-level drilldown we were able to quickly identify and resolve an incident when images on a particular page were not loading. Keynote's graphic interface is the most versatile; and overall it's the simplest and most comprehensive in terms of results."

"Test Perspective makes testing a viable function for Web operations for the first time," said Roopak Patel, product manager for Keynote's Test Perspective service. "We're giving the operations team a very valuable tool, one that is convenient and easy to use, and that they can use continually."

Test Perspective 4.0 can be used with Keynote's Transaction Perspective benchmarking service to test and diagnose the performance problems indicated by the results of the Transaction service.

Availability and Pricing

Keynote Test Perspective 4.0 is available immediately. Pricing starts at $3600.00 per slot for a three-month subscription, during which time customers can conduct up to a total of 25,000 page measurements each month for as many scripts as they'd like. Additional slots and page measurements can also be purchased.
