Global Internet Performance Conference (GIPC), San Francisco, Calif., — June 10, 2002 — At the opening of its third annual Global Internet Performance Conference, Keynote Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN) today announced two new services that meet the operational needs of the enterprise by incorporating real time Web performance data and alarms into existing tools, applications or enterprise management systems (EMS) behind the firewall. Keynote Data Pulse and Keynote SNMP Adapter™ now give operations centers immediate access to actionable performance data and alerts within their current applications and management interfaces.

Keynote Data Pulse provides a highly reliable, flexible and secure source of raw performance data delivered in real-time in XML format; and Keynote SNMP Adapter provides the industry's only secure system for delivering external performance events through the firewall into the enterprise. The two new services support greater operational efficiency, expand the realm of possibilities to integrate Keynote performance data with existing applications and management systems and extend Keynote's enterprise integration strategy designed to meet the needs of the application performance management (APM) market. Now, any enterprise can incorporate the leading Web application performance data and alerts from Keynote.

Keynote Data Pulse and SNMP Adapter expand the Keynote Enterprise Perspective family of services to deliver a variety of APM services that measure and manage Web-based applications both outside and inside the firewall, and integrate seamlessly into existing EMS systems and business processes. The integration gives operations centers, which view Keynote's services as mission-critical, the ability to leverage existing investments to utilize performance data and alarms, correlate performance data with other data sources, design alerts based on their specific criteria, and archive data for longer term trending and analysis. Keynote data and alarms can now be integrated with and generated in real time from existing applications; alerting engines; network operations center tools, such as Crystal Reports and Freshwater SiteScope; management systems, such as HP OpenView, NetIQ, Tivoli, MicroMuse, Computer Associates and others; and specialized interfaces.

"Keynote's application performance management services give enterprise customers the ability to leverage their existing IT investments in software and hardware to actively manage the total performance of their e-business systems," said Matt Parks, Keynote's director of product management. "With Keynote APM solutions, customers can monitor, identify, diagnose and repair end-to-end e-business performance problems quickly and accurately."

Keynote Data Pulse and SNMP Adapter are key elements of Keynote's "Total Performance Management" strategy for benchmarking, testing and managing the end-to-end performance of e-business applications and systems outlined today (see separate press release).

About Keynote SNMP Adapter

Keynote SNMP Adapter is a flexible solution that integrates with any SNMP-capable application to securely incorporate performance alarms on external or internal Web-based events. IT can efficiently integrate its Web-based Keynote alerts with existing custom applications or off-the-shelf management frameworks, without needing to maintain a separate tool. Keynote SNMP Adapter is a non-intrusive solution that requires no changes to a company's security policies; security is assured through a standard outbound HTTPS connection from inside the network.

An easy-to-use alarm integration service, Keynote SNMP Adapter is an appliance installed by Keynote that is completely transparent to the customer. The Keynote SNMP Adapter initiates outbound requests to Keynote's data center, polls for events, and delivers alarms once the events are converted into SNMP traps inside the network. The customer merely configures the alerts using Keynote's Web-based interface, and instructs the system where to send the results. Customers can create custom rules, thresholds and severities to meet their unique requirements, or integrate into their existing business processes.

About Keynote Data Pulse

Keynote Data Pulse is a highly flexible XML-based real-time data feed service that simplifies Web application performance management for operations departments, giving the network operations center immediate access to actionable data in order to identify and troubleshoot problems. Customers can flexibly customize polling frequencies as frequently as every minute.

Because customers are using this service to diagnose problems in real-time, Keynote has designed a fault-tolerant infrastructure to ensure that the service is always available and performing at optimal levels. Customers who use Data Pulse can rest assured that their proprietary company performance data is protected according to the highest security standards though encryption, user authentication and access control.

Operations centers can use Data Pulse real-time performance data in an almost unlimited variety of ways to meet specific enterprise needs. The XML format makes it easy for seamless data transformations and integration with existing tools, applications and management systems. Customers can manipulate, visualize and analyze the data according to the unique needs of their organization. For instance, Operations can feed the data in real-time into an existing, customized "weather map" console to view up-to-date performance based on specified data points or components. Or, a customer can create and integrate into their management system custom alarm criteria based on any combination of data points, page components or performance metrics.

Current customers of Keynote's full-featured Web performance services, such as Transaction or Web Site Perspective, can make secure requests for raw data to which they subscribe using their own scripts as frequently as every minute. Keynote also makes raw data available through posted files via FTP, used by many customers, but Data Pulse provides more frequent access, greater security, a standardized format, and less processing time.

Pricing and Availability

Keynote SNMP Adapter will be available in July and is priced at $1,250.00 per month. Data Pulse will be generally available in July 2002. Pricing starts at $1,000.00 per month.
