Global Internet Performance Conference (GIPC), San Francisco, Calif., — June 10, 2002 — At the opening of its third annual Global Internet Performance Conference, Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN) today announced the Keynote Testing Portal, which gives testing and operations groups greater control and insight into the performance of their Web applications, with real-time access to the results of the company's award-winning load test services.

Keynote's Testing Portal meets customer requirements by providing a unified interface to view the ongoing status of their Test Perspective™ and LoadPro™ load tests. LoadPro recently won Network Computing's "Well-Connected" Network Systems and Management Product of the Year award over respected technology companies HP, IBM, BMC and Peregrine, in addition to capturing a separate award for Best Web Site Load Testing Service over Mercury Interactive and Compuware.

Keynote brings to testing services its proven expertise in Web performance, based on its 80 percent market share in benchmarking and over five years' leadership in this market, as well as its worldwide performance measurement infrastructure that supports quick and cost-effective validation of e-business application performance.

The new Testing Portal brings an important integration capability to Keynote's family of testing services, which is a key ingredient of the company's ‘Total Performance Management' strategy outlined today (see separate release). Keynote ‘Total Performance Management' for benchmarking, testing and managing the end-to-end performance of e-business applications and systems is comprised of complete end-to-end solutions delivered by Keynote and its KeyPartners™.

Keynote's Testing Portal is an easy to use, cost-effective and time saving user interface that gives customers the ability to observe tests as they occur; immediate access to detailed test results; single-page access to all of Keynote's testing services; and greater control of the test process, including the ability to abort LoadPro tests. Customers can get up and running quickly with minimal training using Keynote's intuitive portal and user-friendly script recorder. Customers can view test results in real-time, including Total Page Views, Page Views per Minute, Total Page Hits, Page Hits per Minute, Concurrent Users, Average Page Response Time, Active Connections, Errors, and Open, Closed and Failed Connections. For Test Perspective users, the portal delivers additional drill-down capabilities on graphs, with more detailed page element results to better understand test results.

"With this new integrated Testing Portal, Keynote is giving our customers more control over the testing process and greater insight into the results, across Keynote's family of testing services," said Matt Parks, Keynote's director of product management. "Keynote LoadPro gives customers load test capabilities for the entire Web application lifecycle – LoadSuite to test major releases, and Test Perspective for frequent maintenance testing – and especially for these customers the portal provides convenient, unified access to the results of all of their tests. As Web applications have become ever more critical to business revenues and relationships, lifecycle testing has become more important to measure the loads and user behavior unique to Web applications."

Keynote's testing services measure the dynamic nature of Web-based applications, modeling user dissatisfaction and abandonment, and testing applications under realistic conditions. By using Keynote's highly accurate "wind tunnel" testing services that test the entire Web application infrastructure with realistic loads, customers identify system performance bottlenecks, understand capacity constraints and verify functionality through self-service tests and full service modeling, testing and analysis. Keynote's testing options include full-service, real-world load tests with LoadPro, including access to Keynote's Web performance experts; and self-service, on demand testing with Test Perspective. The new Keynote Testing Portal makes access to results of both services easy and convenient, particularly when both are used as the Keynote LoadSuite package.

Keynote provides test and measurement services for the lifecycle of Web-based enterprise applications, for pre and post-deployment load testing and performance testing by the IT, application development and quality assurance teams. Keynote's services realistically test the entire Web deployment and application infrastructure as experienced by users outside the firewall, including application, Web and database servers, load balancers, and the network infrastructure. As well, Keynote supports testing for Web-based applications inside the firewall.

By using Keynote's highly accurate testing services, built specifically for the Internet, enterprises can quickly and cost-effectively validate the real-world performance of their e-business applications. Customers can use Keynote's testing services to identify system performance bottlenecks, understand capacity constraints, assure readiness to deliver peak performance, and verify functionality through self-service tests and full-service modeling, testing and analysis.

Keynote Test Perspective provides a cost-effective, self-service load testing and diagnostic testing service available in two editions: Snapshots, for continual, high repetition diagnostic testing of individual transactions; and Load Test, for multiple users and combined scripts. Both provide on-demand or scheduled self-service testing with real-time results from multiple geographic locations worldwide, as well as support for testing Web-based applications from inside the firewall.
