Global Internet Performance Conference (GIPC) East, NEW YORK CITY — October 28, 2002 — At the opening today of its GIPC East event, Keynote Systems™ (Nasdaq:KEYN) announced Traffic Perspective™, a new service that for the first time ever provides e-businesses with a real-time single graphical view into both synthetic and end user traffic. The new service allows site operators to quantify the impact of traffic volume, network conditions, server performance and visitor abandonment with the corresponding outside the firewall performance metrics.

Traffic Perspective correlates the synthetic performance data generated by Keynote's active monitoring technology with the real end user traffic monitored by KeyPartners Adlex and Emissary Technologies to diagnose problems in context and highlight the business impact of poor performance. The result is a unique non-intrusive solution that helps to isolate, diagnose and resolve Web performance problems quickly and cost-effectively.

Using Traffic Perspective, customers can easily navigate between Keynote data and real time traffic analysis reports from KeyPartners Adlex and Emissary Technologies "in context" to identify not only what is happening on their network and where it is happening, but also how it impacts the end user. Correlating performance and real end user traffic data takes the mystery out of how the various segments of the total infrastructure impact the customer experience. It is a significant advancement for performing diagnostic analysis of end user experience and shortens the mean time to repair of Web applications service. Traffic Perspective significantly improves the way enterprises manage their operating costs and IT resources necessary for resolving Web performance problems.

"Clearly one of the biggest business challenges faced by IT today is calculating the impact on real end-users of performance problems and how to most effectively collect this information," said Arnold Waldstein, vice president of marketing and business development for Keynote. "Traffic Perspective is designed to take IT professionals to the next step in identifying factors that affect end user response time. They can now graphically view, in one place, the real time performance as measured by Keynote, in context with actual end user traffic. By marrying the best active monitoring with the best passive monitoring of end user traffic by our KeyPartners, customers get the best of both worlds."

Traffic Perspective is the latest addition to Keynote's Application Performance Management (APM) family of services for managing today's highly critical and complex Web applications and systems and a significant example of Keynote's promise to deliver on its ‘Total Performance Management' strategy introduced in June 2002 at the Keynote Global Internet Performance Conference West and in which KeyPartners play an essential role in broadening the value of Keynote services and data.

‘Total Performance Management' is comprised of complete solutions delivered by Keynote and KeyPartners for benchmarking, diagnosing, testing and managing the end-to-end performance of e-business applications and systems. Total Performance Management enables enterprise customers to leverage existing management software, reduce unnecessary capital expenditures, provide competitive advantage, deliver an optimal quality of experience to end users and increase the number of satisfied customers.

About Enterprise Traffic Perspective

Traffic Perspective combines the performance analysis of actual end user traffic with the consist and repeatable measurements from Keynotes measurement and diagnostic network to provide critical analysis of actual end users and e-business performance to:

  • Improve Capacity - Correlate high traffic volume with performance/availability shortfalls to understand and improve site capacity.
  • Improve Consistency and Efficiency - Pinpoint the traffic volume and performance of each server to isolate misbehaving servers and inefficient load balancing.
  • Improve Time to Repair - Compare Enterprise and public agent measurements to determine if a problem is occurring inside or outside the firewall; then apply Traffic Perspective to further analyze performance issues. Reduce abandonment - find slow and frequently accessed pages and compare data to abandonment rates; know when, where and why your customers are leaving.
  • Improve Customer Satisfaction – Know which customers are affected by performance problems, what they were doing the site, where they came from and how they connected.

Availability and Pricing

Traffic Perspective is available in November 2002 for $1,000 per month. Adlex UserVisibility is available immediately starting at $45,000. Emissary Technologies Advisor is available immediately starting at $40,000.
