Keynote Announces New Version of WebIntegrity Service that Supports Web Accessibility Testing

WebIntegrity 2.1 Ensures Section 508 Compliance and Customizable HTML Standards

Washington, D.C., — June 11, 2003 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in Web performance monitoring, management and testing services, announced today at the E-Gov 2003 Conference, WebIntegrity 2.1, an enhanced version of its uniquely powerful Web site content integrity testing service that now includes customizable support for HTML standards, new testing and reporting features and comprehensive support for Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that sets standards for Web site accessibility by the disabled (see the section below entitled “About WebIntegrity’s Support for Section 508 Compliance” for further details).

In addition to WebIntegrity 2.1 Keynote also announced today, “Keynote Best Practices for Total Performance Management (TPM) for E-Government,” its new solution-sets targeted at operations, application development and testing personnel within federal, state and local government agencies (see separate press release). One of the new solution sets, “Keynote Deployment Edge,” includes the latest version of WebIntegrity.

WebIntegrity is part of Keynote’s growing portfolio of cost-effective Web performance monitoring, measurement, management, content and user experience testing services that optimize Web site performance from the all-important “outside-in” end user perspective.

About WebIntegrity’s Support for Section 508 Compliance

WebIntegrity automatically gathers together or “spiders” all the pages and content of an entire Web site and then systematically applies a series of rules to determine if Section 508 compliance issues exist – the primary one being the ability for underlying page content code, especially text, to be interpreted and read aloud to users of screen reading devices.

The WebIntegrity testing service reads the HTML code underlying all the content, including images, and then guides site managers through the entire compliance process, including interactive repair of non-compliant code. When a WebIntegrity “scan” finds non-compliant HTML code it automatically suggests HTML-compliant code that allows screen reading devices the ability to interpret the code and “read” the page to visually impaired or color blind users.

About WebIntegrity 2.1

WebIntegrity is designed to give government agencies and enterprise customers the ability to streamline Web site maintenance and enforce consistent quality standards across Web site content. WebIntegrity allows site managers to better manage the performance of their Web site and identify cost-savings, while providing a more consistent, higher quality online experience for Web site visitors.

Overall, WebIntegrity enables site managers to reduce bandwidth costs, monitor Web site content, support design compatibility and assure compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

With its new features, WebIntegrity is now the first and only Web site content integrity testing service that enables Web site managers to:

  • Regularly monitor Web sites for HTML errors based on user-defined criteria.
  • Enforce HTML coding standards for site contributors based on user-defined criteria.
  • Create customized business unit reports so that those lines of business that often pay for and contribute content to the site can view reports relevant to their interests.
  • Review Web site content for Section 508 compliance and easily identify and correct non-compliant pages.

“The enhancements to WebIntegrity are aimed directly at the heart of some of the thorniest problems for those managing large Web sites,” said Arnold Waldstein, vice president of marketing and business development for Keynote. “The new features of WebIntegrity demonstrate Keynote’s commitment to continually upgrade our services to address the needs of both government and non-government customers. Large companies are interested in ensuring Section 508 compliance. And certainly government Web sites need to be in compliance with its own regulations covering site accessibility for people with disabilities. Both sets of our customers should therefore be extremely interested in the new version of our WebIntegrity content testing service.”

About WebIntegrity

Keynote's WebIntegrity is a cost-effective, easy-to-use content testing service that scans a government or enterprise Web site, automatically testing for conformance to user-defined standards for browser compatibility, Section 508 accessibility load time, and HTML coding. Tests span thousands of pages verifying link integrity and applying content tests to assure there is no objectionable content in the site.

Available as a hosted service or as an appliance that resides inside the customer’s network, WebIntegrity allows enterprises to run dynamic or scheduled tests customized to obtain relevant, actionable reporting on site integrity. More importantly, it reduces the complexity of testing the content of large-scale Web sites.

WebIntegrity reporting applies a common measure to content across multiple sites and facilitates communication among developers, quality assurance and operations personnel, increasing their ability to identify problems with site content, correct them before putting the site into production and ensure that content in production is of the highest quality.

Availability and Pricing

The latest version of WebIntegrity is available immediately and is priced starting at $500.00 per month.
