Web Site Behavior Analysis Made Easier with New Version of Keynote WebEffective

Enhanced Reporting Features; Usability Testing Service Now Available in Europe


SAN MATEO, Calif., — July 16, 2003 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in Web performance management services, today announced Keynote WebEffective™ 3.1, a new version of its outsourced usability testing service that adds important new reporting functionality to make analyzing Web site user behavior easier and simpler than ever. Additionally, Keynote announced that a WebEffective data collection center is currently operating in Paris making the WebEffective service now available to customers based in Europe.

Large companies have spent tens of millions of dollars building their Web sites and related e-business infrastructure. However, after having now spent millions of dollars promoting their online brand and presence and successfully driving people to their Web site channel, understanding exactly how and why end users behave the way they do once they have arrived is fairly misunderstood.

Keynote WebEffective is the “missing link” for easily, simply and cost-effectively understanding and analyzing how end users actually behave on a Web site and more importantly, why they do what they do. Web logs are fine for establishing traffic trends; but they don’t tell an e-business how effective their Web site is at meeting business goals. With WebEffective e-businesses can test the quality of experience as experienced by real end users and quickly identify Web site effectiveness problems.

WebEffective 3.1 provides new “form” and “question analysis” tools that allow customers to easily extract “form” and “question response” data in aggregated reports. The easy-to-generate reports present data in a tabular and chart format, which can then be “screen captured” for quick analysis. This feature is most useful when customers use the “Active Questioning” capability, which allows subscribers to WebEffective the ability to set up predetermined “survey poquestions in response to certain end user behavior. For instance, it can ask a user “why did you do that?” if someone cancels out of a long “money path” transaction at the last second. The insight provided by such real time response is oftentimes invaluable in architecting a site for optimal revenue-generation.

The new version also adds new “page type” reports so that WebEffective subscribers can select a page type (such as “success page” or “product page”) and receive useful information about that page type including:

  • Percentage or number of sessions that contain the page type.
  • Average number of times it appears per session.
  • How often a page appears in a session.

Finally, Version 3.1 provides enhanced “top path” analysis, which gives subscribers tremendous new flexibility for analyzing a sequence of pages, step by step, in a transaction.
