SAN MATEO, Calif., — May 5, 2004 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq “KEYN”), the worldwide leader in Web performance measurement and management services, has significantly broadened the Keynote Application Perspective® platform by doubling the number of worldwide geographical locations from which customers can measure transaction performance and introducing a version of Application Perspective that offers deep integration with HP OpenView. The enhanced version of Application Perspective Outside Edition, which includes additional monitoring locations, and the new Application Perspective for HP OpenView service, are immediately available to customers.
The Keynote Application Perspective platform is the industry’s most comprehensive, end-to-end monitoring and root cause diagnostics solution for e-business applications at the lowest total cost of ownership. The platform consists of three modules that can be purchased and used independent of one another: Application Perspective Outside Edition, Application Private Edition (a high throughput transaction monitoring agent that can be placed anywhere a customer desires inside or outside the firewall), and Application Perspective for HP Openview, a newly available version now tightly integrated with HP’s OpenView Transaction Analyzer product, that facilitates deep diagnostics behind the firewall when application performance problems occur.
Keynote Application Perspective Outside Edition is an affordable, self-service, outside the firewall, Web transaction monitoring service that measures the ‘response time’ and ‘success rate’ for performing Web transactions from multiple geographic locations worldwide.
When Outside Edition initially became available in February, transaction monitoring was immediately available from 15 cities. Keynote has now added an additional 15 cities from which customers can measure, monitor and diagnose transaction performance from the end user perspective. The additional North American geographic locations from which customers can monitor transaction performance now include: Atlanta, Miami, Seattle, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Toronto. The additional international locations include: Brussels, Helsinki, Madrid, Milan, Oslo, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney and Tokyo.
Application Perspective for HP OpenView is an inside the firewall, appliance-based service designed to provide high-capacity, real time transaction monitoring with sophisticated trending, alarming and reporting and that includes integration with HP OpenView Transaction Analyzer (OVTA). HP OVTA provides operations and application support staff with a comprehensive understanding of current application performance and drill-down functionality deep into the application layer for rapid problem isolation.
The benefits of Keynote Application Perspective for HP OpenView include:
Together, Application Perspective Outside Edition and Application Perspective for HP OpenView bring enterprise customers an elegant services-based platform for Application Performance Management (APM). Keynote’s APM services platform delivers the industry’s most comprehensive end-to-end operational monitoring and root cause diagnostics solution for e-business applications at the lowest total cost of ownership, especially when compared to complex and costly software solutions from companies such as Mercury Interactive.
Strong Customer Testimonials
“Sun Country has
added more functionality to its Web site and greatly increased its
presence on the Web over the last two years intensifying the need to
monitor large numbers of transactions to maintain excellent customer
service and address problems proactively, yet cost effectively.
Keynote Application Perspective is the answer,” said Mark Ondrey,
Director of IT for Sun Country Airlines. “Our Web site is mission
critical to our business as we drive more and more customers to it
and to make it useful for our employees who need to access
information on our extranet from all over the country. By broadening
the geographic locations available for us to measure our site’s
performance from with Outside Edition, we are able to assure that
our destination cities can successfully access our site quickly and
reliably. Application Perspective is easy to use and the detail
provided gives us the ability to triage a problem efficiently at the
correct level. The Keynote service is a vital component of our
proactive approach to customer and enterprise application
maintenance. Sun Country is already realizing a significant return
by reducing site downtime and pinpointing potential trouble spots,
rather than waiting for a problem to surface.”
“It is impossible to be in a more time sensitive business requiring more accuracy than providing real time stock charts,” said Chip Anderson, president and CEO of StockCharts. “Our Web site gives customers access to some of the most powerful analysis tools available. Because we offer our customers direct support, running such a powerful Web site is a 24/7 job. Keynote Application Perspective is easy to install and deploy and provides us all the high frequency performance monitoring and root cause analysis functionality we need provided as a highly cost effective service. The large number of measurements, that a single Application Perspective private agent can generate, allows us to detect problems very quickly. Application Perspective can generate thousands of pages per hour so that we can monitor all our applications from a single agent and provision new transactions measurements and perform advanced troubleshooting transactions very quickly facilitating real time triage and diagnosis.”
How Application Perspective for HP OpenView
Works
Transactions originated from Application
Perspective Outside Edition agents or Private Agents run through a
company’s end-to-end infrastructure just like a “red dye” diagnostic
test — with or without detailed instrumentation data. With
integration completed between Application Perspective and HP’s Open
View Transaction Analyzer, Keynote transactions can now be
identified and followed through a company’s underlying Web, database
and application servers and the impact of each component upon end
user experience can be closely monitored. When an end user
experience threshold (performance or availability) is exceeded,
Application Perspective generates alerts instantly within the
MyKeynote Inside Operational Console and also feeds alerts to a
company’s existing HP Open View console.
For data center issues, operation and application support managers can instantly drill down to page-level and metric-level details to eliminate false alarms and triage the problem. Following the problem resolution, Application Perspective for HP OpenView can also be used to validate the fix in real time, thus providing a highly efficient, repeatable process to enhance the end user experience.
Availability and Pricing
Application
Perspective Outside Edition and Application Perspective for HP
OpenView are immediately available.
