Keynote launches brand new UK Web indices offering companies a chance to measure and compare their online performance

BBC, O2, Ticketmaster, First Choice and Facebook all leaders in their industry categories

London, England, — July 19, 2007— Keynote Competitive Research, the industry analysis arm of Keynote Systems, Inc., today announced the launch of the company’s first ever UK and Ireland Web performance indices.  Sixteen new Web performance indices will monitor the leading UK Web sites in the following categories and vertical industries: News & media, Events & Entertainment, Travel, Social networking and Telecoms.

A brand new section of the Keynote Web site dedicated to UK and Ireland will provide market insight which will allow Web operations teams, application developers and online business managers to measure and compare the performance of their Web sites against that of their competitors in a number of important categories.  It will also allow them to set service level targets accordingly; and tune their sites for optimal performance. To find out more information about Keynote Performance indices and companies included in each, please visit: http://www.keynote.com/keynote_competitive_research/performance_indices/uk/

The indices will be updated on a weekly basis. As we can see, leading the packs in the week commencing 08/07/07 were BBC, O2, Friends Reunited, Facebook, Ticketmaster, First Choice and Expedia.  Although the differences in performance may appear relatively small, in the age of the Internet savvy consumer, these differences cost customers.  Reuters, The Link, See Tickets, Travel Bag and Ebookers are going to need to do more in the way of improving their Web site performance if they are going to compete with other companies in their tables.  For information see separate press release or visit http://www.keynote.com/keynote_competitive_research/performance_indices/uk/.

All the Web pages monitored for the new Keynote indices are measured 24/7 from six different ISPs in locations around the UK and Ireland, using Keynote’s commercially available Application Perspective® service.  Keynote’s Application Perspective® provides comprehensive performance data from an end-user perspective.  For more information on this product, please visit http://www.keynote.com/products/Web_performance/performance_measurement/application_perspective.html.

“Keynote Systems is extremely excited to be launching these brand new vertical indices dedicated to the UK and Ireland market,” said Martin Stern, head of Keynote UK.  “It is covering some of the most highly competitive segments of business in the UK today, and is showing just which companies are leading the way in these sectors.  By providing customers with access to their industries most accurate and representative Web performance indices, it allows them to compare their site performance against the competition and set performance benchmarks and service level objectives accordingly.  Keynote is proud to be providing the tools and intelligence for UK companies to succeed in the worldwide Web.”

Both the aggregate or summary index views as well as more detailed data are available to all Keynote customers currently using Application Perspective®.  Qualified customers are also being offered one free detailed summary index (representing a composite or aggregate view of all the Web sites in a particular index) and can purchase additional indices.  Customers can also purchase detailed index data (showing the performance of all the Web sites in a particular index) for an additional fee.
