San Mateo, Calif., — July 24, 2007 —Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in mobile and Internet test and measurement services, today announced that Maven Networks Inc., the technology company powering the Internet TV revolution, will add Keynote’s industry-leading streaming test and measurement solution, Streaming Perspective™, to the Maven Internet TV Platform™. This collaboration enables Maven’s customers to actively test, track and assess the performance of streaming media on the Maven Internet TV Platform. With this deeper level of insight, content owners can make more informed technical decisions or troubleshoot as necessary, ensuring that the end-user’s streaming video experience mirrors the quality experienced via television.
Keynote Streaming Perspective® is the market-leading service for measuring the quality and reliability of audio and video streams from multiple geographic locations around the world. Using Keynote’s globally distributed network of measurement computers, Streaming Perspective measures the quality and performance of audio and video streams from the end-user perspective. In order to deliver the most accurate and actionable performance data, Streaming Perspective connects to the selected stream multiple times per hour and records key performance data, including: network statistics (e.g., DNS time, traceroutes, packet statistics); streaming statistics (e.g., connection success rate, bit rate, connect/buffer/rebuffer time); server statistics (e.g., server type, serving platform, streaming protocol) and presentation statistics (e.g., frame rate, player errors, metafiles & URLs). All the collected data is then made easily available to customers via the Streaming Perspective portal, making it easy to chart performance and diagnose critical problems as soon as they occur. High-level summary information is available at a glance while detailed diagnostics data is only a click away.
Maven enables professional media companies to quickly and easily create, distribute and profit from direct-to-consumer Internet TV channels and networks. The Maven Internet TV Platform, with performance metrics features, provides media companies and their affiliates with in-depth, actionable information from around the world. This information can then be used to quickly optimize the effectiveness of the broadband content and channels as well as user acquisition campaigns—driving greater media consumption and viewer loyalty while growing video advertising revenue streams.
“Keynote provides a valuable technology for measuring the performance and quality of streaming video, which is a critical capability particularly as broadband video consumption grows exponentially,” said Bob Hammond, vice president of engineering at
Maven Networks. “With this partnership, we’re offering our customers a straightforward integration with Streaming Perspective to further our commitment to delivering technology that ensures rich media experiences.”
"We have received very positive initial feedback on this joint solution from our beta customers and we look forward to working with Maven Networks to further expand our collective offerings in delivering and monitoring streaming video to assure the highest performance levels possible,” said Jeff Geiser, Keynote’s global director of streaming technology.
