SAN MATEO, Calif., – September 12, 2006 – Keynote Systems (Nasdaq “KEYN”), the
global leader in Internet and mobile test and measurement services, today announced Keynote Mobile Device Perspective® 2.0,
an interactive testing and operational measurement service using real wireless devices on live mobile operator networks
globally. Mobile Device Perspective (formerly known as Wireless Perspective, introduced in 2003), provides a complete,
hosted solution enabling mobile operators, content and service providers, infrastructure hosts and makers of mobile
devices to better ensure the quality of mobile content, such as games, WAP sites and streaming video, and services,
including MMS, Push-to-Talk and Instant Messaging.
Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 is the latest release within Keynote’s suite of mobile test and measurement
products that encompass all three areas of mobile quality – – on-device testing and measurement using
real handsets, content and services testing and measurement using over 1,000 device profiles, and network testing
and measurement using probes and software. The new version underscores the company’s commitment to improving
the quality of mobile communications. Similar to its Internet, VoIP and streaming media test and measurement
products, Keynote’s Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 eliminates the need for enterprises to maintain their own
complex and expensive testing infrastructure.
Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 provides a complete hosted solution for mobile operators, content and service providers
and infrastructure hosts that allow them to analyze their mobile content and services from the perspective of their
subscribers. By using Keynote’s globally deployed measurement system, enterprise companies and service providers
are able to eliminate the guesswork and ensure consistent quality of service for their customers, providing the underlying
confidence and quality assurance that will help take the mobile Internet to the next level. Applications and services
covered with the new service include: SMS, MMS, WAP, Push to Talk, OTA Transactions, Instant Messaging, Streaming Video
and Java/BREW applications. Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 supports any mobile data network including GSM (GPRS, EDGE,
UMTS, HSDPA) and CDMA (1xRTT, 1xEV-DO).
“In speaking with our mobile customers we recognized a critical need for a mobile test and measurement service
that would allow them to test their mobile content on real handsets without the time and expense of manual testing from
multiple locations around the globe,” said Vik Chaudhary, Keynote’s vice president of marketing and product
management. “With Mobile Device Perspective 2.0, Keynote has addressed that need by extending our mobile test and
measurement offerings to include interactive and functional testing for mobile content and services on real handsets,
over live networks, globally, freeing up precious time and capital that can now be devoted to making the promise of
the mobile Internet a reality.”
Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 addresses the challenge of testing and managing the subscriber experience of today’s
increasingly complex mobile applications over any mobile device. It is a cost-effective, comprehensive, fully hosted service,
providing mobile operators and content and service providers an easy way to test and measure mobile content and services
using real devices, from multiple geographic locations. Users of Mobile Device Perspective can choose any device, on any
network, from multiple geographic locations and perform remote tests from their own desktops via the MyKeynote Web portal.
MDP 2.0 also allows mobile content providers, carriers and infrastructure hosts to:
- Reduce lost revenue due to undelivered mobile content and services
- Increase subscriber satisfaction by ensuring the highest levels of mobile streaming performance
- Receive real-time alerts and notifications when errors occur or pre-defined service levels are not maintained
- Benchmark performance against competitors and across multiple networks, locations, and devices
As an additional benefit to existing Keynote customers, all mobile test and measurement data is available on
MyKeynote.com, the same portal where other Keynote measurements – including
Web, VoIP, and streaming media measurements – are visualized. Mobile Device Perspective also provides near real-time
reporting and alerting, data feeds into customer dashboards and actionable insights that result in superior quality of
service for mobile applications.
“Mobile Device Perspective is likely the most comprehensive mobile testing, monitoring, and measurement tool available
in the industry today. It addresses needs of players across the value-chain,” said Chetan Sharma, President of Chetan
Sharma Consulting, a leading consulting and advisory firm focused on helping companies in the mobile and voice communications
sector develop innovation based product and IP strategies. “The capability for a developer in Seattle to download, test,
and measure an application’s performance in real-time over a live network in London, Seoul, or Tokyo is enormously beneficial
and cost-effective. Mobile Device Perspective will help raise usability standards in the wireless industry.”
Pricing and Availability
Mobile Device Perspective 2.0 will be available at the end of October. Pricing is dependent on the configuration, number of
locations, transactions and devices for testing or measurement. Current Mobile Device Perspective customers include Cingular,
MSN, Sprint and US Cellular.
