Magazines on Smartphones: Convenient but Not Quick

An increasing number of people are choosing to read magazines on a smartphone, presumably because it’s convenient. But are slow mobile download speeds detracting from the overall experience?
If you multiply the average speed (11.5 seconds) in the Keynote Mobile News and Portal Index by the number of pages in a magazine (80), you realize that slow smartphone performance could add 15 minutes to time needed to read a magazine cover-to-cover. In a business based on delivering impressions, starting off slow is a sure way to create a bad one.
